Title:  Shipping Supervisor Warehouse Operations

  1. Directly supervise hourly employees on all material handling responsibilities
  2. Manage and maintain material handlers shipping schedule and update payroll/attendance system accordingly
  3. Assign tasks to material handlers & monitor completion
  4. Coordinte/schedule pickups for open-top dumpsters, scrap trucks, compactor, product returns and transfers to other GPI locations
  5. Oversee daily cycle counts and work towards maintaining an accurate/orderly inventory by executing proper warehousing of all materials
  6. Manage PIV fleet
  7. Oversee outside contracted warehouse and help with issue resolution
  8. Schedule and lead monthly meetings and all training for material handlers and ensure training remains current
  9. Ensure completion of all required paperwork, carrier appointment schedules, work orders and audit actions for the shipping department
  10. Communicate with material handlers and management on key issues such as performance, attendance, employee issues/converns, overtime, etc.
  11. Responsible for the planning and monitoring of production performance against key operating targets
  12. Ensures compliance to established customer quality and production standards
  13. Actively lead and participate in safety, housekeeping and lean manufacturing programs by ensuring goals are met within the department
  14. Meet quality/waste goals by ensuring all direct reports are properly trained on their equipment, following proper procedures, performing requisite inspections, and following up on suggested improvements
  15. Must have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to work efficiently and appropriately with peers, managers, vendors, and customers
  16. Must possess strong problem-solving skills and be capable of leading others through troubleshooting processes to resolve operational issues and recognize when additional resources are necessary

  18. Support and participate in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes
  19. Safely operate forklifts, squeeze box and clamp truck, resin handling system and the off-loading of resin cars, pallet inverter, auto palletizer, and stretch wrap machines. This includes the changing and maintenance of propane/batteries and performance of daily PM checklist.
  20. Has the responsibility to handle hazardous and other chemical waste in a manner that complies with GPI procedures and is consistent with training received. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the proper accumulating, marking, containerizing, handling, storing, shipping, and preparing of records and shipping papers/manifests for hazardous and other non-hazardous chemical wastes that will help ensure compliance with Tennessee Rule 1200-1-11.
  21. Must be proficient at warehouse related SAP applications and paperwork documentation procedures for movement of materials and be able to complete the forms efficiently and accurately
  22. Immediate reporting of incidents resulting in injury, product, or property damage to supervision and completion of initial written incident reports involving warehouse employees
  23. Work in a safe manner and assure co-workers work in a safe manner, responsible for conducting headcount during emergencies and reporting to safety coordinator
  24. Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of AIB/5S and other company standards
  25. Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  26. Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements or customer quality requirements


Required Skills

  • Ability to effectively lead a team of logistics and manufacturing employees
  • Effective at time management and delegation to the team
  • Six Sigma Lean/5S knowledgeable
  • OSHA certified in safety and emergency response a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet research skills
  • Experience with SAP and RFGen system experienced preferred

Required Experience

 

  • 3 years of supervisory experience in Logistics, Warehousing and Manufacturing
  • High School Diploma, GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or Associates in Business Management or related field preferred.
