CI TECHNICIAN SUMMARY:

Direct the Quality and Continuous Improvement Process for the GPI facility. This involves the development, implementation, and preservation of the validity of the Quality System, the proper allocation of available capital to equipment and processes which move the business forward, and the identification of personnel training requirements relative to new equipment and processes. The major objective is to improve the people and processes to remove cost from the system and to improve our product quality so that we are more competitive in the marketplace and our business grows.

 Primary Responsibilities are, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide hands-on quality assurance support with a focus on commitment to quality and continual improvement of GPI QMS
  • In-process sampling and auditing to assure adherence to regulatory, corporate, and customer standards.
  • Competency and awareness of SQF, HACCP, and cGMP standards
  • Preform lab tests on products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and appearance.
  • Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures.
  • Daily audit of processes and critical control point standards on the production floor
  • Monitor quality in process on respective shift, including quality hold and corrective actions.
  • Perform Quality audits on machines throughout the day.
  • Communicate with supervisors and management of chronic failure to comply with procedures through email and meetings.
  • Complete end-of-shift emails reviewing all major issues that occurred on shift with applicable data.
  • Identify and quarantine defective finished goods in the quality hold area and perform disposition.
  • Support production in identifying and quarantining all suspect supplier material in inventory.
  • Correct any loads that do not conform to the nonconforming product policy. (On hold, labeled correctly, representative sample)
  • Responsible for maintaining production areas, QA lab/hold office up to GMP, SQF, and HCCP standards.
  • Ongoing documentation review of all forms and documents for GMP assuring control of documents and records.
  • Champion for continuous improvement during the shift; attending stand-downs, conducting CA training, and coaching.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.                                                      

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-2 years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • 2 years of quality inspector experience
  • Superior time management, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to read gauges, dials, thermometers, rulers, and other digital display devices
  • Excellent analytical and observational skills

WORK SCHEDULE:

Employees are required to work an 8-hour (M-F) schedule including weekends.

Occasional overtime is required to include working 12-hour shifts.

Must be able to perform computer entry and testing functions as well as manual testing of cartons and paperboard.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.

      The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
