THIS POSITION HAS FUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
POSITION SUMMARY:
The shipping/warehouse lead is responsible for maintaining the shipping department and ensuring product is being processed according to customer specifications. The shipping lead is also responsible for ensuring that that the warehouse is kept clean and orderly and, all forklifts are being properly maintained and maintenances when necessary.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the shipping manager for the scheduling of shipping associates.
- Oversee the proper processing of product packaging and storage.
- Knowledge of proper loading procedures and ability to assist when needed.
- Maintain communication with shipping manager and production supervisors.
MANAGERIAL / SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly supervise/manage 2 – 4 associates in the shipping department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include helping to plan, assign and direct the work force.
- Ensure that all orders are billed and shipped correctly.
- Instruct department associates of their responsibilities to safety and quality.
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Previous experience in the shipping/warehouse department.
- Trained and certified forklift operator.
- Ability to operate yard truck.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Ability to schedule department associates for efficient operation
- Knowledge of proper packaging and placement in warehouse
