REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager                                                                     

 

 

THIS POSITION HAS NO DIRECT MANAGEMENT OR SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

 

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment, including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment.

 

  1. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electrical equipment.

 

  1. Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA.

 

  1. Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.

 

  1. Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.

 

  1. Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.

 

  1. Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.

 

  1. Assists maintenance personnel with technical level employees.

 

  1. Properly and accurately, complete all required records keeping, ordering and other necessary paperwork.

 

  1. Proper use and adherence to Lockout\Tagout Procedures.

 

  1. Must follow precise instructions and directions.

 

  1. Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.

 

  1. Perform other duties as directed.

 

  1. Practice good housekeeping.

 

  1. Obey all safety rules, regulations, and policies.

 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

 

 

Skills needed.

  1. Must be electrical safety trained.
  2. Must be electrically qualified to work on 50 volts to 480vac.
  3. Must be able to voltage test high amp circuits.
  4. Must be able to use, volt, amp, ohm, and megger testing equipment.   
  5. Must understand ohms law and other electrical formulas.
  6. Must be competent with computers.
  7. Must be familiar with PLC and VFD programming and commissioning.
  8. Must be able to read and understand, wire schedules for electrical motors, open loop, closed loop, stepper, and servo.
  9. Conduit bending is a plus.
  10. Must be able to read and understand reference materials (Ugly’s, wire/conduit sliders, etc.…)
  11. Pre-Press maintenance training is required.
  12. Rotary Die maintenance is required.
  13. Must be trained on extruder/thermoformer/trimpress maintenance and tooling changes.
  14. Must work around hot environments and equipment.
  15. Must be willing to return to work in off hours. 
  16. Must be familiar with email programs, word processing, and excel sheets to communicate with supervisor/manager and vendors.
  17. Must have good communication skills.
