The Graphic Packaging International Portland plant is International supplier of flexible food packaging structures. The plant core processes are continuous web including multi-color flexographic printing, extrusion coating, and water-based coatings. Finished products are in roll form and to support this we have a department of finishing equipment dedicated to convert large internal rolls to final customer specifications.

 

We currently have an immediate opening for an experienced, Maintenance Machinist / Mechanic to join our team. The position will be active in developing a culture of an incident free workplace, continuous improvement of equipment reliability and reducing costs to support the business success. The plant is a 24/7 operation. Successful applicants must be available to work all shifts and overtime.

 

Job requirements:

  • Ability to independently operate lathes, Mills, Drill presses and other manual shop equipment.
  • Knowledge of machining procedures for mild steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, and bronze.
  • Knowledge of precision machining procedures and ability to hold .001” tolerances or less.
  • Ability to work off prints or written instructions. Standard personal machinist tools.
  • Ensures proper operation of manufacturing equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pumps, gear boxes, pneumatic tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer's instruction; troubleshooting malfunctions, experience in industrial plant maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, repair and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment for improved reliability and up-time
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Precision measurement skills are required.
  • Skills in proper lubrication application.
  • Computer skills to support interface with work order system.
  • Expected to supply a standard industrial mechanic set of tools. The company will supply specialty tooling.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ability to work 8 and/or 12-hour shifts as scheduled plus overtime as needed

 

Skills that would be a plus:

  • Experience with continuous web handling equipment.
  • Troubleshooting skills in pneumatics, hydraulics, rotating machinery performance.
  • Experience with extrusion coating process
  • State certification - Journeyman's License
  • Leadership experience

 

Hourly Rate:

  • $40.42/hour

 

12 Hour Shift Differential:

  • $0.40/hour Days
  • $0.90/hour Nights

 

8 Hour Shift Differential:

  • Days – no differential
  • $0.30/hour Swing
  • $0.40/hour Nights

 

Shift Schedule:

  • 12-hour days (6:30am – 6:30pm) - rotating shift pattern of 2-2-3
  • 12-hour nights (6:30pm – 6:30am) - rotating shift pattern of 4-3-3-4
  • 8-hour (6:30am – 2:30pm)
  • 8 hour (2:30pm – 10:30pm)
  • 8-hour (10:30pm - 6:30am)
