Mission/Summary
This position is responsible for implementing and executing safety, health and environmental programs that effectively minimizes accidents and property loss.  Responsibilities also include the full compliance and enforcement of all safety activities required by OSHA and other regulatory agencies, federal, state-worker compensation laws, and corporate policies.  

General Purpose of Job:
•    Directs, monitors, and performs accident investigations, safety inspections and audits.
•    Develop Safety Leading Indicators; lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for all First Aids (FA’s) and Near Misses (NM’s).
•    Utilize information from the Employee Observation program to promote positive change in the plant culture.  
•    Promotes a safe working environment and safe work practices. Ensuring employees adhere to Safety Policies. 
•    Facility 5S Champion, facilitates 5S and housekeeping activities geared towards shift change and driving change throughout the facility.
•    Develops safety-training schedules and creates awareness to support safety initiatives.
•    Develops Safety Programs: Hazard Communications and MSDS’s. Lock Out/Tag Out, Ergonomics, Emergency Organization, Fire Prevention, PIT Safety, Confined Safety, Confined Space, Personal Protective Equipment, etc...
•    Manages the Return-To-Work Program.
•    Directs, submits, and monitors records, summaries and reporting as required by OSHA and Corporate.
•    Analyze, prepare, and maintain mandatory/regulatory related safety and environmental reports and records.
•    Direct the company LIFE program.
•    Maintain facility Behavioral Job Analysis (BJA’s) and ensure work systems are being followed.
•    Lead the Safety Committee; Safety Assurance Team and ensure the SAT is an integral part of the facilities culture.
•    Manage and oversee the facilities Learning Management System (LMS).
•    Support training of hourly staff; identify training opportunities, certification process which will align with CI efforts.
•    Assist in the budget planning process.
•    Shared responsibility for compliance with all facility product safety (5S and Food Safety)/Sanitation policies and procedures.  Must continually work to promote orderliness and cleanliness of the facility in support of companywide stewardship standards.
•    Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork).
•    Performs all other duties as assigned.
 

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from and accredited four-year College or University
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), IH (Industrial Hygiene Certification), or OSHA Certification plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience. 

 

Pay Range:   $78,450.00 - $104,600.00
