MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Manager, Transportation and Warehouse IV role is responsible for safety, employee engagement, productivity, quality, performance, and customer service associated with a complex, multi-shift finished goods distribution and raw materials warehouse function throughout a 5-building campus. The person in this role shares in the obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Leading a Transportation and Warehouse team responsible for raw material storage and finished goods distribution operations.
  • Sustaining a culture of safe work performance, encouraging employee involvement, following up on safety concerns, and modeling proper safe behaviors. Partnering with HSE to ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.
  • Achieving effective employee engagement, developing and supporting a culture where employee input is encouraged, and individuals and teams achieve success through common vision, goals, and purpose.
  • Achieving quality goals, training employees to established customer quality standards, following proper quality procedures, and performing requisite inspections.
  • Achieving key performance goals, communicating clear objectives and priorities, providing requisite training resources, engaging employees, and effectively measuring and reporting out on progress.
  • Directing the storage and distribution of all items at the lowest cost consistent with established specifications in terms of quality and quantity.
  • Proactively identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing effective operating policies.
  • Ensuring materials, supplies, vehicles, equipment are maintained to specifications.
  • Developing and managing distribution and warehouse department budgets.
  • Effectively communicating throughout the organization on key issues.
  • Evaluating job performance and recommending appropriate personnel action.
  • Guiding leadership team in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving issues.
  • Serving as President of the Shelbyville Industrial Railroad Service (SIRS)

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 7 years of Operations Management experience in a large, complex warehousing, distribution, or logistics environment required.
  • Exposure to large, complex manufacturing operations.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Business Administration, or related field.

 

SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various manufacturing and staff departments at the plant, and with groups outside the plant, including vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, including train, coach, mentor, counsel, and discipline.
  • Strong strategic, analytical problem-solving ability (TCC/Trouble Cause Correction)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S or other discipline)
  • Ability to utilize time management & multi-tasking skills necessary to execute the responsibilities of the distribution and warehouse function.
  • Strong computer skills with a focus on Microsoft office applications, QAD experience (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently as well as the ability to coordinate activities with different departments
  • Strong safety orientation as per job requirements
