Graphic Packaging International is seeking candidates to join our Shelbyville, Illinois team in the role of Manufacturing (Production) Supervisor.  Our supervisors:

  • Work directly with and supervise approximately 25 /- employees per shift.
  • Foster a culture of safe performance, maintaining safety procedures, encouraging involvement, following up on safety concerns, and modeling proper safe behaviors.
  • Foster a culture of productivity, setting clear goals, engaging the workforce, providing training, support and resources, and setting appropriate priorities and monitoring progress.
  • Achieve desired level of engagement, providing leadership, listening and responding to employee issues, taking decisive actions, recognizing excellent performance, and holding employees accountable.
  • Achieve quality and spoilage targets, ensuring proper training, following proper procedures, performing requisite inspections, and following up on suggested improvements.
  • Effectively communicate throughout the organization on key issues.
  • Effectively interact with contracted employees, ensuring their compliance with GPI policies and procedure.
  • Share an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork.

Required Skills

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of supervisory level experience working in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing environment

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Business Administration, or related field), preferred); or, closely related work experience required in lieu of degree

 

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team through training, coaching, mentoring, and counseling
  • Strong safety orientation
  • Demonstrated strategic, analytical problem-solving ability (TCC/Trouble Cause Correction)
  • Demonstrated timely, effective decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, adept at motivation and experienced at conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S or other discipline)
  • Demonstrated communication skills, effective at all levels of the organization
  • Proficient computer skills, experienced with Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within teams
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate across department and functions
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, without accommodation  

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • Our typical night shift supervisor schedule consists of 12-hour shifts and an alternating 3 day / 4 day work week, with every other weekend off, however, our supervisors must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; including early mornings, nights, and/or off weekends.
