OPPORTUNITY: We are a Foodservice cup forming manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Shelbyville, Illinois team. This job posting is for a Special Equipment Operator 5 position. JOB SUMMARY: Unload and deliver materials necessary for manufacturing needs.  Duties also include: recording and warehousing raw materials and in-process materials for future use, working in a safe manner, and obeying all safety rules. 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Work within and adhere to GPI’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork
  • Perform all duties safely and efficiently, following all company guidelines. Participate in safety meetings and safety tours
  • Deliver raw or in-process materials to production areas
  • Properly document transactions between production and warehouse
  • Operate RF unit
  • Store all materials in accordance with designated storage patterns.
  • Consolidate product in warehouse to ensure proper room in warehouse
  • Unload, warehouse, and properly document any inbound shipments
  • Load and properly document between production and warehouse, as well as any outbound shipments
  • Keep assigned area clean and orderly
  • Help in reconciling any problems with inventory
  • Notify shift supervisor or group leader of any damaged shipments
  • Check all areas of truck described on forklift check sheet and report to shift supervisor or group leader of any problems
  • Shuttle materials required for production needs from outside warehouse
  • Operate PIT equipment, baler machines, and tape sealing machines
  • Fill propane tanks as assigned
  • Remove snow
  • Once qualified, instruct and train other operators
  • Fulfill overtime requirements as necessary to insure production requirements are met
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Department Supervisor

Required Skills

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • Manufacturing experience, with minimum of 3 years of Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) experience (roll clamp and/or box clamp) required
  • Ability to complete job specific training for and essential functions of this job classification
  • Good depth perception
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive team environment
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and highly detail oriented
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to follow verbal or written instructions

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.

 

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends off. 
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation.  This includes: Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours; Lifting up to 50 lbs. to a height of 3 feet; Pushing blank carts weighing up to 1,500 lbs. (2-person job); Visual acuity and depth perception; Working in various temperatures & humidity levels.
