Graphic Packaging International currently has a Production Supervisor position available at our Solon Carton location. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented individual with a Sheeting, Printing & Converting Background. Will effectively manage the departments to meet all operational metrics while ensuring Safe, Quality, Production results while positively impacting Solon’s EBITDA. Able to manage career paths by leading, coaching, and developing 180 indirect and direct hourly reports. Work effectively with interdepartmental Senior Leadership Team members and applicable staff to ensure continuous improvement and optimal production results for new & existing customers. Monitor, identify, and implement solutions for areas of opportunity through data acquisition and trend analysis using plant-specific platforms (SAP, Qlickview, RFgen).


  • Coordinates production operations.
  • Support department manager with daily operations, reports, and staffing needs.
  • Maintains effective quality procedures, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Performs operational rounds for supervisory responsibilities.
  • Troubleshoots operational problems.
  • Performs safety auditing.
  • Responsible for communication – logs, shift reports, e-mail.
  • Proper data entry for attendance – Workbrain, absenteeism reports.
  • Responsible for coaching and training employees.
  • Standard work including maintenance, manning, supply management.
  • Performs basic household maintenance activities.
  • Assists temporary employees with understanding task assignments while reinforcing SQF standards and Graphic Packaging Internationals core values.
  • Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork


  • 2-5 years of progressive management experience required.
  • Management experience in a union environment is preferred.
  • Management inventory and raw material consumption are required.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and project management experience.


  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Smed, 5S, Continuing Education Program, or Six Sigma preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Employee Relations and Supervision.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills with emphasis on Word & Excel.


  • Ability to maintain favorable employee morale.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to provide insight in capacity expansion needs assessments.


  • General schedule is A 12 hour - rotating schedule, however, employees must be willing to work alternate schedules that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
