Job description
- Coordinate and manage all quality-related activities (product manufacturing standards, quality standards, internal or external quality audits, required certification, etc.) within the prescribed deadlines.
- Promote the quality management policy to the supervisors and directors of GPI – St-Hyacinthe.
- Ensure the quality standards established by the company, governmental, legislative or other authorities as well as by customers.
- Collaborate with production, customer service and sales representatives to develop robust processes and meet all customer specifications.
- Identify quality issues and make appropriate arrangements, in collaboration with the appropriate supervisor.
- Identify, analyze (i.e. risks, costs, quality, sustainability, etc.), propose, implement and evaluate solutions to the quality issues encountered and implemented while involving the key players of the plant and/or the company.
- Optimize manufacturing processes while never losing sight of time, cost and quality. All with the help of continuous improvement tools (i.e.: 5S, Kaizen, SMED, TPM, GEMBA Walks, etc.).
- Identify, define, complete, monitor and implement quality performance indicators (KPIs) to promote rapid decision-making, communication with other bodies in the organization and the search for solutions to the issues encountered.
- Update and view information about QlikView.
- Plan, structure, coordinate, set up, monitor and audit to obtain and maintain any required certification (e.g., HACCP, SQF and others).
- Prepare any documentation required for the filing of new or recertification files and ensure that the required authorizations are obtained, if necessary, by the various levels of management.
- Ensure that you have and maintain the required authorizations, certifications or other accreditation.
- Coordinate the process of managing customer complaints, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions and the calibration process;
- Ensure that a food safety program is maintained (e.g., HACCP, metal detection);
- Disseminate any required technical training and support the management team and employees with respect to the plant product safety program (i.e. HACCP, SQF, Food Defense etc.);
- Support the continued development of the plant's food safety culture;
- Plan, structure, coordinate, facilitate and follow up on quality meetings, as needed.
- Participate in any corporate meeting or external body related to his/her role and provide the required documentation within the scheduled time;
- Various related tasks.
Qualities and skills sought
- College diploma in quality control or any other training or experience deemed equivalent;
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position in a unionized environment;
- Knowledge and experience in quality standards, continuous improvement and in the implementation and maintenance of HACCP and SQF certification;
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software;
- Ability to speak and write in English (4/5): Exchanges with the rest of Canada and the U.S. headquarters in the quality sector, with international customers and bodies related to food safety management (50%).
- Green Belt certificate (an asset);
- Have a sense of organization, initiative and resourcefulness;
