Title:  MN - St Paul,Feeder-Packer

Feeder/Packer is an entry level position, therefore, you will be responsible for training temps, new hires, etc. During training you must stay with the trainee at all times to oversee their performance. At no time should you leave them alone.

2. Pack, inspect, feed cartons, checking for the following:

· Proper glue seam- no glue, excess glue, glue inside, glued straight

· Scratches, marks, etc.

· Color variation, wrinkles, cut/print register

· Cutting defects, scores (cracking), stripping (hammer marks)

· Check cartons as they are being fed into gluer.

· Check windows on all windowed cartons.

· Packers- will perform inspections on every 3rd case packed, checking for the items listed above.



1. To work with operators to make sure cartons are folded and glued properly. To check throughout run for marks on cartons, glue on glue line, color and cracks, and air hammer. Check windows on windowed cartons. Make sure cartons are packed properly or to specifications.

2. When load is finished on lift, DO NOT shut down machine, move to staged load until stock person is available to move load onto the lift for you.

3. When pallet is finished on the lift DO NOT push/shove off lift; take pallet off with care and stack in designated area. (to prevent injury to yourself or others)

4. Clear understanding on how to use the taper, read a job ticket, set up corrugated, cut liners, putting a flag on the belt (for marking), fanning cartons, and cleaning glue pots.

5. Watch machine for jam-ups or other problems.


6. During a stop/start, packers are responsible for putting a flag on the belt before and after the stop/start.

7. During make ready:

· to get liners and set up tape

· help with paperwork if time allows.

· To clean and sweep area when time allows.

· Help out on other gluers.

· Clean glue pots.

· Assist operator

· Help in stripping

8. Recommend Changes:

· If the machine goes down, it should be the feeders responsibility to tell the operator.

· If the packer has a problem with a box, or the machines are folding them wrong, the packer needs to tell operator right away.

· If there are 2 packers, they both pack and perform extra carton inspections

· When filling a case on a new job, it is the packer’s responsibility to tell the operator how many they have in the case and how much room is left at the end of the case.

· When using liners on a job, make sure there are enough to finish the job.

· During make ready, everyone helps with cases, liners, and tapers

· It is the responsibility of the whole crew on each machine to keep your area clean and organized.

· If machine goes down, the feeder goes to the back to help the packer.

· Everybody takes a turn cleaning glue pots.

· If you don’t know something or don’t understand something, ASK!!!!

· Feeder/packers are responsible for the machine they are scheduled on.

· Line clearance procedures need to be followed.

· Allergen procedures need to be followed.



This Job Description is only a guideline, you may be asked to do other functions as needed. Due to work load changes in each department, you may also be asked to help out in other areas and/or departments from time to time.


Hazardous Waste Responsibility:

1. Maintain all containers on and around work area

a. Labeled correctly

b. Closed lids on containers when not in use

c. Dispose of aerosol cans properly

d. Mark drums if used for waste as “trash”

e. Label containers used for recycling plastic
