Quality Manager (Continuous Improvement Manager) 

 

MISSION / SUMMARY: 

The Quality (Continuous Improvement) Manager directs and coordinates all activities related to the quality function. They will also be responsible for supervising the quality technician team. This role will report directly to the site manager.  

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job function include but are not limited to the following. 

  • Directs and coordinates all daily activities regarding quality.  For example, quality concerns in production, design, or customer service; handling of vendor or customer complaints 

  • In conjunction with upper management, sets guidelines for product and service quality that will enable the company to attain the established goals and objectives 

  • Participates in formulating company policies that affect quality, such as ordering policies for critical raw materials 

  • Directs and coordinates the implementation of an AIB/HACCP Quality system 

  • As part of the quality system, formulates quality policy and objectives with management.  Implements document control, quality records, auditing plans, training plans, control of inspection and testing equipment, corrective action, and statistical techniques. 

  • Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of quality activities 

  • Provide analyses to management regarding production performances such as make ready times and throughput, and product and service performance such as on-time delivery and complaint-free performance 

  • Directs re-work and disposal of defective or returned cartons 

  • Analyzes and controls expenditures of department to conform to budgetary requirements. 

  • Comply with all company rules and regulations’ 

  • Perform other duties as required to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the company

These skills below are one we expect the Quality/Continuous Improvement Manager to learn through the course of their position and be able to efficiently perform them: 

  • Knowledge of AIB/HACCP programs 

  • Knowledge of folding carton industry 

  • Knowledge of TQM principles, SPC 

  • Knowledge and ability to run various testing equipment 

 

REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES: 

Background/Experience: 

  • At least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in a similar industry and manufacturing 

  • Prior supervisor experience is preferred  

 

Education/Knowledge: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field to Business, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Engineering or similar  

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours. 

  • Occasional Lifting up to 25 lbs. 

  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices. 

  • Use of various office equipment, hand and electrical tools or equipment. 

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment in designated areas (Safety Shoes, Hearing Protection, Hair Netting). 

  • Working in various temperatures & humidity levels depending on building & department (not all areas are temperature controlled throughout facilities). 

  • Ability to work overtime (greater than 40 hours per week); Ability to work any shift, including 12 hours, evenings, and weekends 

  • May use the following equipment; pallet jacks, scales, forklift and computer

  • This position has full responsibility and authority to oversee the development, implementation, review, maintenance, communication, and integrity of the SQF system including Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Defense.  
  • Be competent in understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code: Manufacture of Food Packaging and the requirements to implement and maintain the site’s SQF System. 

  • Complete a HACCP Training course – as defined by SQF Code requirements 

  • Lead and train a multidisciplinary HACCP team to implement and maintain the HACCP and Food Safety plans.  

  • Update the Site Leadership team monthly on matters impacting the SQF system.  

  • Lead and coordinate the annual plant review of the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) system in its entirety. 

  • Validation and Verification of SQF controls with determined frequency/schedule. 

  • Develop and maintain an internal audit /schedule, and Coordinate SQF third party audits. 

  • Responsible for coordination of SQF type Root Cause/ Corrective Actions activities 

  • Establish and maintain Methods/criteria for monitoring, sampling, inspecting, testing, and analyzing raw materials, in-process, and finished goods. 

  • Review and update training skills requirements for Safe Quality Foods. 

 

 

Pay Range:   $94,875.00 - $126,500.00
