MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Die Cutting Manager will supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operation staff in the die cutting department. This role will work closely with other department on production scheduling and flow of material to help aid in efficient completion of work orders. This role will report directly to the Converting Manager.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job function include but are not limited to the following.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the die cutting activities, waste department and pre-make ready areas
- Ability to abide by all GPI safety standards and enforce safety regulations required by outside regulatory agencies.
- Read and analyze work orders/job jackets to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
- Confer with other supervisors and production management to coordinate operations and activities between departments
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals
- Inspect materials, products, and equipment to detect defects of malfunctions
- Troubleshoot and solve machinery problems
- Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees
- Assign experienced workers for training
- Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production standards
- Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances
- Interpret specifications, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers
- Complete all job/maintenance logs as required
- Perform other job duties as assigned
- Follow all company safety requirements
- Comply with all company rules and regulations
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of raw materials and production processes
- Knowledge of supervision principles involved in production methods and coordination of people and resources
- Good communication/math skills
- Knowledge of machines and tools including their design, uses, repair and maintenance
- Knowledge of safety regulations and training
These skills below are one we expect the Die Cutting Manager to learn through the course of their position and be able to efficiently perform them:
- Operating knowledge of die cutters and die cutting principles
- Operating knowledge of bailers and pre-make ready machines
- Comprehensive knowledge of the folding carton industry
- Knowledge of SQF program
- Knowledge of Bobst Die Cutters
REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES:
Background/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar industry to printing
- Prior management/supervisor experience is preferred
Education/Knowledge:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Physical Demands:
- Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours.
- Occasional Lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various office equipment, hand and electrical tools or equipment.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment in designated areas (Safety Shoes, Hearing Protection, Hair Netting).
- Working in various temperatures & humidity levels depending on building & department (not all areas are temperature controlled throughout facilities).
- Ability to work overtime (greater than 40 hours per week); Ability to work any shift, including 12 hours, evenings, and weekends

Pay Range: $86,250.00 - $115,000.00
