DIE CUTTING OPERATOR

 

Sets up and operates machine to cut folding cartons. Will perform the responsibilities to help with make-readies and operate a Bobst cutting press with focus on meeting the required production speeds while controlling waste and maintaining quality and safety standards. To perform this job successfully, an individual must obey all safety procedures, demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance and be able to work independently at times with limited direct supervision.

 

Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

  • Review job ticket and determine job requirements
  • Setting-up die, counter plates, stripping section and press
  • Install all necessary tooling
  • Observes operation of the machine to detect malfunctions such as jamming, wrinkling or tearing of materials
  • Performs adjustments when needed
  • Pulling front trim as required
  • Clean counter plates and strip down dies that are locked up
  • Clean area around press
  • Deliver cut cartons to finishing department
  • Completes quality and production reports
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines safely and within quality specifications.

 

Ideally the individual that would be a strong fit for this position would have some of the following knowledge/skills and abilities;

  • At least 1-3 years related manufacturing experience and/or training
  • Operation of a Bobst Die Cutter
  • Experience using a hand jack

 

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least one year of working experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, in a production operator position
  • Preferred: At least three years of professional working experience, preferred in a manufacturing environment, preferred folding carton manufacturing experience
  • Must be willing and able to work a 12-hr shift; 7pm-7am or 7am-7pm
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime
  • Knowledge/Skills:
    • Mechanical Aptitude; ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems
    • Computer Proficient; ability to use Microsoft Office products to compile reports
    • Must have basic ability to execute mathematics and reading skills

 

Essential Job Functions include the following:

  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, leather gloves, hearing protection
  • Other Physical Requirements:
    • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 10 pounds, up to 15’-30’
    • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 20 pounds
    • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 50 pounds, up to chest height, 10’-40’
    • Occasionally (1-33% of the time) bending, squatting, reaching above shoulder and at waist or lower, twisting, stretching, pushing and pulling (up to forces of 60 pounds), carrying, kneeling, grasping (fine motor skills), stooping, crawling and fingering
    • Frequently (34-66% of the time) climbing and walking
    • Continuously (67% of the time) standing
