SHEETER OPERATOR

Our Staunton, VA facility to looking for a Sheeter Operator. This position will be responsible for set-up and operations of our cutting machines to cut rolls of paperboard material according to required specifications.

Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

  • Read production work order to determine sheet dimensions
  • Inserts shaft into core of roll and raises and positions on cutter rack, using hoist
  • Threads ends of material through feed rollers or across cutting blades and aligns material against machine guides
  • Adjust tension to synchronize timing of cutting blades, rate of material feed to regulate length and width of cut.
  • Starts machine and checks for accuracy of knife cuts to ensure specified dimensions of sheet
  • Observes operation of machine to detect malfunctions such as jamming, wrinkling, tearing of material
  • Makes required adjustments
  • Assist maintenance staff to replace cutting blades
  • Tags loads
  • Completes necessary paperwork
  • Follows all company safety requirements
  • Comply with all company rules and regulations

 

An individual in this position must be able to learn and demonstrate the following skills;

  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to complete production and quality reports
  • Ability to perform routine and preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshoot equipment to solve problems
  • Operate sheeter machine, clamp truck and forklift truck
  • Operation of Sheeter
  • Operate clamp truck
  • Operate forklift

Essential Job Functions include the following:

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally (1-33% of the time) bending, climbing, reaching at waist or lower, stretching, twisting, pushing and pulling (force up to 38 pounds), carrying (up to 25 pounds), kneeling, grasping, fingering and crouching
  • Frequently (34-66% of the time) squatting, reaching above shoulder and walking
  • Continuously (67% of the time) standing
  • Not at all (0% of the time) sitting or crawling
  • Right and left hand coordinator is necessary
  • Must be able to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes; safety glasses, steel toed-shoes, ear plugs and cut resistant gloves. Per our quality standards, you must also wear a hair-net

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least two years of professional working experience, preferred in a manufacturing environment
  • Skills: Mechanical
  • Must be willing and able to work either an 8-hour shift, 5 days a week; overtime during the week and weekends may be required based on production needs and vacation coverage OR a 12-hour shift (rotating days on-and-off)
