Role Summary
The Electrical Engineer—Power & Recovery is responsible for providing technical guidance on electrical operating units within the Power & Recovery Department. Helps develop and maintain electrical control systems using engineering principles and design software with strong focus on economy, safety, and reliability. May be involved in developing budgets, estimating labor, and material.

Job Accountabilities
- Provide electrical engineering technical support to production units, environmental activities, and plant projects to improve unit operations, process safety and environmental performance
- Collaborate with plant maintenance and reliability engineering department to resolve specific instrumentation and electrical issues
- Support Powerhouse operations, including assistance during operational upsets or outages
- Coordinate and assist the implementation of plant system changes, including equipment additions, modifications and/or deletions and process design
- Assist in writing and reviewing unit operating procedures
- Complete engineering studies for new projects, and coordinate with Engineering Department to develop estimates, define scope, and complete projects
- Communicate and document engineering activities (unit support, design, environmental and process safety support) in company’s database with little or no review required
- Provide electrical and process engineering assistance to operations for solving problems, optimizing, and improving production planning
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Working knowledge of root cause analysis concepts
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in an effective manner
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and sound engineering principles
- Knowledge of process design, instrumentation, process control and statistics
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must pass a pre-employment background and drug screen
Desired Characteristics
- Three (3) years of experience in paper, pulp, refining, chemical or petrochemical plant processes, manufacturing, or power systems processes
- Considerable knowledge of safe work practices, OSHA and Environmental rules and regulations
- Process Design experience with simulations and equipment specific design
- Knowledge of power generation principles and theory including turbine generator operations
- Project management skills
- Knowledge/experience with 5-S, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles
- Thorough understanding of fundamental theories of heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, separations, and control systems
