Title:  Lead Accounting Analyst

Role Summary

The Lead Accountant /Financial Analyst role is a lead member of the mill’s financial team.  This position requires daily interaction with mill operations as well as routine and ad-hoc financial assignments.  This role measures financial progress against the mill’s objectives, analyzes business results, develops annual budgets, strategic plans and weekly forecast preparation.

 

Job Accountabilities

  • Lead role in managing raw material receipts and inventory flow
  • Assists in establishing and monitoring internal controls to identify problem areas, determine actions required to improve operating program effectiveness, and ensure and maintain the integrity of financial and accounting information
  • Assist in various projects as assigned and continuously find ways to improve departmental quality through creating efficiencies, streamlining repetitive processes, and utilizing technology.
  • Monthly reporting and communication of financial performance against targets.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting including analysis to support and identify mill opportunities and/or areas of concern.
  • Performs various administrative and office duties
  • Ensure compliance of internal controls on all transactions involving company assets and interests.
  • Responsible for assisting with the financial close process to ensure a timely close including but not limited to preparation of month end journal entries, Balance Sheet account reconciliations etc.
  • Handle confidential information ethically and with integrity and the highest degree of confidentiality
  • Completes various financial and accounting reports and analysis, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

 


Required Skills

Required Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications and accounting/financial software
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
  • General knowledge of financial analyses i.e. variance reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Open for future mobility within Graphic Packaging International

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
  • Two (2) years of experience in accounting, financial or analytical role
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing facility
  • Industry exposure and manufacturing process knowledge
