Role Summary

The Logistics Superintendent manages the warehouse and distribution functions. This role is accountable to develop strategies to reduce delivery costs, improve customer service and enhance competitiveness. The Logistics Superintendent assists in the planning, development and implementation of warehousing and transportation programs and systems maximizing synergies for the company.

 

Job Accountabilities

  • Manage all activities of warehouse and shipping functions
  • Manage product transportation to ensuring customer delivery dates are met utilizing dependable and best cost practices
  • Work with other department to incorporate logistics with company procedures and operations
  • Ensure all operations adhere to laws, DOT regulations and guidelines, and ISO requirements
  • Develop and implement the logistics system and standards, training the plant's personnel to keep an updated logistics system that ensures continuous and sustainable improvement in our operation
  • Establish the logistics and transportation strategies to ensure the effective and efficient flow of product through a warehousing and shipping systems
  • Track product inventory and accuracy through established logistic system
  • Determine the logistical goals for the Plant to monitor the logistical performance of the plants that serve as a basis for the elaboration of action plans that ensure the continuous improvement of the results
  • Manage the performance of salaried employees as well as hourly paid employees under his/her responsibility, resolve performance issues, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Identify and/or solve operational issues with the account(s) by implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives
  • Determine knowledge and skills requirements for all hierarchical logistics levels to ensure the competence and development of logistics personnel in the group to achieve performance within goals. Management of warehousing, inventory control, shipping and receiving
  • Provide support in Logistics personnel management in the recruitment, development, evaluation and coaching to ensure a robust organization in the department’s logistics prepared to achieve the established goals
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

Required Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business discipline, Materials or Supply Chain Management, or Industrial Engineering
  • Five (5) years in progressive leadership roles in warehouse, logistics, or transportation operations

OR

  • Ten (10) years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or transportation operations with seven (7) years of experience in progressive leadership roles
  • Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Strong organization, analytical and computer skills
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
  • Ability to create and develop an inclusive and engaged work environment across the enterprise
  • Effectively guide profit and loss actions using current data sets
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screen

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge/experience with 5-S, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles
