Graphic Packaging International, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of paperboard and fiber-based packaging for the world’s most recognized brands of food, beverage, and consumer products is growing their business!  We have embarked on a significant capital investment to modernize and grow our coated recycled paperboard (CRB) manufacturing portfolio. The investment includes building a state-of-the-art paper machine on a greenfield site in Waco, Texas. This investment will upgrade the company’s overall recycled paperboard capacity and take advantage of a rapidly-growing market for recycled and recyclable packaging.

 

This investment will position Graphic Packaging International, LLC as the most technologically advanced producer in its industry, benefitting their customers, their shareholders and the environment when this highly productive paperboard machine ramps up. 

 

We are seeking a Manager, HRBP to join the Waco, Texas (Greenfield Startup) team.   

 

About the job

For our future state-of-the art 300 person Waco, TX CRB paper mill, Graphic Packaging International is seeking a Manager HRBP to build and lead the plant’s HR function from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to join a start-up facility and have a direct impact on the culture, employee experience, and success of the organization.

 

Graphic Packaging International (GPI) broke ground on the $1 billion facility in the summer of 2023. The plant will become fully operational by 2026.

 

  • Lead all HR operations in our 300-person state-of-the-art coated recycle board manufacturing facility. Including the leadership, mentorship, and career development for all HR team members.
  • Developing new and implementing existing GPI HR policies and procedures for the new mill.
  • Partner with the Corporate HR Centers of Excellence Talent Acquisition, Labor Relations, Diversity and Inclusion and Corporate Senior HR team on the recruitment and hiring efforts needed to build a strong and capable workforce and meet staffing KPIs.
  • Conducting training programs to onboard new employees and to ensure all employees have the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
  • Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Developing and administering performance management and evaluation processes.
  • Play a key role in driving the company's strong culture, succession management, organizational design, leadership development and assessment.
  • Oversee Mill HR strategies and procedures and ensure these activities are completed successfully through internal system audits.
  • Collaborate with local community organizations to establish positive relationships and develop outreach programs to attract top talent from the surrounding area.

 

You Have At Least (Required Qualifications):

  • A Bachelor's in HR, OD, or other similar fields including at least seven (7) years of dynamic leadership experience as an HR Manager within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a strategic HR leadership role – proactive employee relations and influencing culture.
  • HR Management experience over a sizable employee population. As our Waco facility will be comprised of 300 team members, any viable applicants must have had HR experience within at least a 200-person plant.
  • Experience in providing valuable HR coaching, guidance, thought leadership, and HR business partnership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Technically sound in HR fundamentals and best practices and the application of them within a manufacturing environment.

 

We Hope You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Extensive experience in greenfield projects, employment law, OD and planning, labor relations, safety, and training.
  • A Master’s in Labor Relations, HR Management, OD or MBA including a PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP (and SCP) certification.
  • Experience in a 24/7 heavy industrial manufacturing environment with leadership over HRBP or Generalists.
