MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Mgr., Engineering Services is a critical, leadership position responsible for the overall maintenance and engineering operations of Texarkana Mill. This position is charged with ensuring the mechanical reliability of equipment is capable of producing the budgeted tons per year. This position will also manage the engineering function to oversee capital project installations and mill wide improvement projects.

 JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Drive safety to Zero injuries and support mill transition to safety focused culture.
  • Create a step change in maintenance performance and accountability across the mill.
  • Develop long-term strategies aimed at equipment reliability improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a 5-year capital outlook I partnership with the business leaders
  • Ensure an ongoing and collaborative approach in managing mill engineers and capital engineers to ensure a seamless transition following installation of new equipment.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for improving maintenance downtime.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and capital engineering to develop capital projects to improve overall equipment efficiency.
  • Develop and execute the strategic vision of a mill-wide reliability department.
  • Develop a plan for identifying and delivering cost savings initiatives. 

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Skilled in utilization of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably SAP.
  • Multi-tasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines on a continuous basis.
  • Able to convey a sense of urgency and drive to perform and deliver expected results to the organization.
  • Organized approach to work and ability to deal with multiple competing priorities to make appropriate decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to effective lead a diverse team to achieve stretch goals.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math or Sciences from an accredited four-year college or university strongly preferred or, in lieu of degree, a minimum of 15 years of compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
  • 10-15 year’s maintenance supervision experience in pulp and paper.

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
  • Use of ladders and stairs in the mill environment.
