MISSION / SUMMARY: The Safety & Health Analyst will fully support the Texarkana Mill’s safety objectives through demonstrated leadership and drive. This position will report to the Health & Safety Manager and will be responsible for utilizing the mill safety systems to ensure the health and welfare of all employees, vendors, contractors, visitors, etc.


JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Assignments will be a combination of safety, health and industrial hygiene programs.
  • Execute day to day safety activities – work with departments, Safety Support Team, Joint Safety Committee. Increase risk recognition – identify and correct hazards.
  • Conduct inspections and audit inspections of critical Health and Safety items and provide feedback to front line leaders and department managers. Support driving accountability.
  • Assist with maintaining the safety initiative processes and tracking systems.
  • Coordinate IH exposure assessments.
  • Assist in conducting safety and health training programs and new hire integration.
  • Monitor safety and health performance and recommend priorities and actions for improvement. Review new products, equipment, and processes for potential hazards and recommend modifications before introduction.
  • Maintain positive and open relationship with hourly team members to understand concerns and work together on solutions
  • Develop safe standard work practices with team members, department learning leaders and managers. Monitor conformance through safety and housekeeping inspections and audits.
  • Participate in investigations of near misses, property damage, etc. to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Assure compliance with organization and government health and safety standards.
  • Support Annual Outage(s).
  • Safety Data analysis.

Required Skills


  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the role of Safety or EHS
  • Demonstrated track record of success in working in a team environment with focus on results, safety and ability to solve problems
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations



  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred


SKILLS: Skills include but not limited to the following.

  • Possesses broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge.
  • Paper manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Union environment experience preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communications and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • SAP Business Software Knowledge preferred.
  • The incumbent must provide strong leadership and teamwork to ensure safe and efficient operations.



  • General schedule is M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. The schedule includes weekend duty responsibilities.
  • Up to 15% travel with extended periods to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.



  • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Work on/around paper machines, stock prep equipment, power house and pulp mill, etc.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
