Title:  Supervisor-Training II

Role Summary

This position reports to the HR Manager and supports the Training/HR function for the Texarkana Mill. The position is responsible for the employee training programs for the mill. This position will also have responsibility for assigned HR functions.

 

The Supervisor–Training is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of training plans for salaried and hourly personnel. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to partner with the appropriate management team members to develop specific training plans, acquire support for the plans, and partner with the specific areas to deliver the training plans.


Required Skills

Duties & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

  • Lead training/education systems and facilitate training courses
  • Manage and coordinate the use of training facilities and resources
  • Participate and facilitate training needs assessments as needed
  • Maintain new employee orientation master materials and update as necessary
  • Ensure ongoing employee development and establish/monitor training goals and objectives
  • Partner with operational/maintenance leaders to assess, develop and deliver training
  • Maintain a mill wide training database in SharePoint
  • Act as management liaison with 3rd party grant writers and providers
  • Maintain compliance with annual required HR training
  • Support college recruiting efforts in coordination with HR Manager/Supervisors
  • Work closely with Mill-wide Training Development Manager to align Mill training with GPI objectives
  • Perform recruiting activities, including, but not limited, attending recruiting events, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and employee on-boarding
  • Manage all aspects of leadership development, intern, and co-op programs
  • Support Mill improvement teams as needed
  • Maintain new hire evaluation program
  • Coordinate community outreach opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience

Required Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, or Engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience of Federal and State employment laws and other government compliance regulations.
  • Experience with Convergence or other similar Learning Management Systems
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate discretion, able to work with and maintain sensitive and confidential materials
  • Effective interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Advanced Computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to assess training/educational needs and develop lesson plans to address gaps in necessary training and development subject matter
  • The incumbent must provide strong leadership and teamwork to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Able to effectively deliver presentations before groups of managers and employees
  • Occasional overnight travel
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening and reference check
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

 

Desired Characteristics

  • Three (3) years of experience in a training or Human Resources role
  • Union labor relations experience (contract interpretation, compliance, grievance processes)
  • SAP software experience and knowledge
