Production Assistant

 

MISSION / SUMMARY:

 

Our Vancouver, WA facility to looking for a Floor Help for our Sheeting and Printing department. This position will be responsible for assisting the Pressman in operating and maintaining the printing press efficiently, safely and accurately.  

 

Rate of pay – $22.27

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

 

  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all Company safety and environmental practices.
  • Support the flow of the plant’s sheeting, printing, and cutting departments in regard to the inputs and outputs of each department
  • Operate a pallet jack to move skids throughout the plant
  • Move and band waste and coordinate with shipping to move waste to trailer
  • Organize incoming production supplies and move to correct location
  • Operate support equipment such as band chopper, aerator, and drum lift
  • Communicate with operators, supervisor, prior shift, and next shift to prioritize production concerns
  • Work on painting and organization projects
  • Perform various operations functions, such as materials movement, labeling and packaging, collecting, and removing broken/scrap materials.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities for all employees:

 

  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

 

  • Must be able to work 8 hour shifts plus overtime as required.
  • Employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • The employee is frequently required to lift or carry 10 to 35 pounds and occasionally required to lift or carry 36 to 50 pounds.  Weights above this require team lifting.
  • This position requires frequent standing, moving, and use of hands to perform the duties of this job. Frequent stair climbing, kneeling, crouching, balance, forward bending/standing, right and left hand coordination.
  • Occasional right and left hand grip, elevated work, repetitive squat, repetitive reaching, step ladder climbing, rotation sitting.
  • Wear PPE when required:  Safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection etc.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office equipment.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
