Graphic Packaging-Visalia manufactures and distributes paper cups and plastic lids for the food service industry and is currently recruiting for the following position.

 

JOB TITLE:  2nd Shift Lid Operator                           

DEPARTMENT:  Lid Line

WORK SCHEDULE:  4:00 pm to 12:00 a.m. (Midnight)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Lid Line Operator is responsible for maintaining the operation of the Lid Line Machines. The operation of the Lid Line machines requires the operator to perform changeovers, setups, startup duties, preventive maintenance, oiling etc. The lid line operator is responsible for thermoformers, the extruder area, the trim press, plastic grinders. Operators will communicate with Lid Line Operators of the prior shift regarding information pertaining to difficulties, delays in production, or quality issues (Pass Down) and complete daily production logs each for lid line. The Lid Line Operator is also responsible for the quality control and will performing a variety of quality control tests/checks every two hours beginning at the start of the shift and continuing throughout the work shift. When the Lid Lines do not require immediate attention in the maintenance of the machine, the operator is required to assist the packers in the packing process to identify defects.

 

All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging International work rules, code of conduct and safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, hearing protection and safety goggles.

 

WORK DEVICES/TOOLS consist of the following: dies, peening tool/sharpeners, punch, male/female blocks

hand tools including screwdrivers, wrenches, sockets, and rubber mallets, molds, plugs, utility knife, gloves, and sleeves.

 

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 2 years experience manufacturing/industrial machine operator experience required.
  • Prior experience utilizing pallet jack —highly preferred
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time with scheduled breaks
  • Must be able to walk around machine/equipment frequently; surfaces are mostly concrete
  • Must be able lift/carry weight approximately 35 lbs.; the average distance carried is approximately 50 feet.
  • Must be able to climb a flight of metal steps leading up to a platform at the top of the machine. This is performed on average up to 4 times a shift and may vary depending on the need for repairs/maintenance of the machinery.
  • Must be able to use a two-step stepstool, and 6 feet – 10 feet ladders with rails and a platform at the top for standing in order to access the equipment for inspection/maintenance/repair
  • Must be able to bend forward momentarily up to 90 degrees when repairing or maintaining machines.
  • Must be able to kneel/crouch/crawl on an occasional basis to perform repairs of equipment. Employees are provided with knee pads for prolonged kneeling activity.
  • Must be able to reach between waist and shoulder height which occurs on a frequent basis.
  • Must have the ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Overtime will be required as necessary including weekends. Graphic Packaging International operates on a 24 hour, 7 day/week basis
