Graphic Packaging-Visalia manufactures and distributes paper cups and plastic lids for the food service industry and is currently recruiting for the following position.


JOB TITLE: 3rd Shift Preventative Maintenance Mechanic                      

DEPARTMENT:  Maintenance

WORK SCHEDULE:  12:00 a.m. (Midnight) to 8:00 a.m.         


JOB SUMMARY: Performs preventative maintenance on all production machines.

WORK DEVICES/TOOLS consist of the following: basic hand tools, diagnostic equipment (calipers, gauges, meters, etc.), maintenance required devices (calipers, dial indicators), percussion reading tools, scissor/boom lifts, ladders, parts washers, cherry picker, electrical troubleshooting equipment, fabrication equipment (welder, grinders, lathe, mill, band saw, drill press)



  • 1 or more years of recent preventative maintenance experience.  Manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Previous mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, lubrication)
  • Use a grease gun/oil can to grease the production machines (all moving parts).
  • Maintains motors, pumps, printers, and conveyors in good running order. Checks for faults, such as loose wiring, loose chains, or loose belts.  If a part is worn out or broken, it is replaced or repaired.  If repair is needed, it is brought to the attention of the maintenance supervisor and the machine utility worker assists in the repair.
  • Changes oil filters on the bottoms of machines.
  • Checks on the supply of certain spare parts, such as rubber rolls and analox rolls.
  • Performs paperwork. There are logs to be filled out.
  • Know the type and size of parts to order. Must be knowledgeable of numerical and measurement conversions.
  • As necessary, machine utility assists with other maintenance personnel such as building maintenance.
  • Must be able to walk around throughout the department; surfaces are mostly concrete
  • Must be able to carry approximately 20-25 lbs. to and from short distances
  • Must be able to lift/lower approximately 75 lbs.; items lifted may be lifted several inches from one surface to another
  • Must be able to push parts/tools on pushcart from the parts room to machine/equipment. The employee may also push a rolling tool box from various areas to work on equipment.
  • Must be able to climb 12-foot ladders or step stools to access equipment or rooftops
  • Must be able to reach between waist and shoulder height which occurs occasionally throughout the shift basis
  • Overtime will be required as necessary including weekends. Graphic Packaging International operates on a 24 hour, 7 day/week basis.
  • Understands, performs and promotes safety and sanitation rules and standard operating procedures.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of industrial safety requirements especially IES/ZES
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills
  • Must be able to bend throughout the work shift. Most of the bending occurs in a slight forward bend for brief periods of times. This may be performed on a repetitive basis. Bending may also occur on a prolonged basis
  • Must be able to kneel to perform maintenance on a piece of machinery or equipment. Knee pads are provided to the employee
  • Must be able to crawl under conveyor belts and/or other equipment to check for damage or perform repairs
