JOB SUMMARY:
Direct the safe and effective operation of employees and equipment in the plant to meet customer delivery and quality expectations, while aligning with the Plant’s safety, people, cultural, financial, and operational objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Promote a culture of safety and lead by example. Ensure all team members understand and follow safety policies and procedures 100% of the time.
- Manage hourly employees and people activities to include onboarding, rewarding, training, and employee development. Manage hourly vacation approvals.
- Coach and address performance related issues (following progressive discipline process when necessary) for safety, quality, performance, training, and attendance.
- Coordinate resources and set daily priorities for the team to ensure operational objectives are met and tasks are completed.
- Support Wausau labor relations and follow the current Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Use judgement to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems; understand and apply established policies and procedures to support plant goals.
- Cultivate and support employee relationships to foster employee engagement.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections; submit required safety reports and documentation.
- Work with team members to identify potential hazards in the workplace/complete hazard mitigations and respond promptly to injuries or safety incidents.
- Understand and hold all employees accountable to all plant rules and policies.
- Coordinate process and material trials in department as required.
- Focus efforts on continuous improvement.
- Work with crews to set speed targets and challenge speed limiting factors on machines.
- Implement/maintain best demonstrated practices across the operation.
- Approve, code, and ensure accuracy (daily) for all hourly timekeeping activities. Ensure all necessary payroll documents are accurately submitted for payroll processing.
- Hold department meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of progressive production supervision, preferably in a unionized work setting.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Payroll & Attendance systems, Microsoft office suite preferred, Excel necessary.
- Problem solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, coach, motivate, and engage a diverse group of people.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree or related work experience in lieu of degree.
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- The Manufacturing Supervisor works a rotating schedule over varying days during the week.
- Mandatory meetings may occasionally be required outside of the schedule outlined above.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods of time to a maximum of 13-hours.
- Ability to work weekly rotating shifts.
- Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Frequent use of stairs.
- Use of various office, hand and electrical tools or equipment.

Pay Range: $71,250.00 - $95,000.00
