MISSION/SUMMARY:

The Woodmill Assistant Superintendent is a salaried position that is responsible for providing the leadership and support standard work to all facets of the Woodmill area. They will be responsible for team performance, team member engagement, and achieving manufacturing results on a daily basis.  Must promote a culture focused on safe, environmentally compliant, and reliability centered operations.  Further, must drive and implement continuous improvement of established procedures and practices and champion initiatives.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Supports and leads efforts at West Monroe that include an injury-free environment through role modeling safe behavior, active involvement in safety activities and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Coordinates and leads efforts to support standard work.
  • Leadership role in ensuring team member relations, efforts and processes are in place to maximize team member engagement and results.
  • Leads, provides guidance, and / or supports teams as needed to achieve area goals, daily responsibilities, and overall achievement of mill goals.
  • Manages daily Woodmill operations with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Active area leader, responsible for short-term (daily) mill performance and long-term performance of area.
  • Provides feedback, coaching, support and, when necessary, take corrective measures, to ensure all team members have a positive, productive and safe work environment.
  • Provides coaching and training to team members as needed for technical, behavioral, and individual development opportunities.
  • Communicates as needed with team members and leadership for resolution of safety, quality, cost, production and any other issues.
  • Communicates and lead the application of facility policies and standards.
  • Coaches safety in others and leads by example.
  • Understands and meets internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develops, maintains and uses reliable methods for all processes and their improvements.
  • Assist other team members as necessary to minimize downtime and maintain quality.
  • Maintains and develops team relationships.
  • Positive, upbeat attitude that instills confidence in personal leadership ability.

Required Skills

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • Strong communication skills, leadership skills-relationship building, and group facilitation skill.
  • Influence and group facilitation skills preferred.

 

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to wear all required safety equipment.
  • Noise levels in excess of 90 dB.
  • Heat in excess of 100 degrees.
  • Working environment is 24/7 – ability to be on-call as needed and / or required.
  • Walking:  Within area and up and down flights of stairs.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.

Required Experience

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong working knowledge of Woodmill operations.
  • Ability to use root cause and failure analyses / trouble, cause and correction. 
  • 5-7 years Woodmill experience preferred.
