MISSION/SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for the management of Graphic Packaging International Shared Services, which includes Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable across US and Canada along with Payroll and Payroll Tax functions for US based employees.  The role includes implementing strategic initiatives and developing personnel to ensure achievement of departmental goals. This position is also responsible for evaluating/implementing cross-functional systems/processes to increase efficiencies/compliance, reduce costs and optimize working capital, as well as, performing special projects from time to time as assigned by the Treasurer. Work is accomplished by collaborating with all GPI departments and subsidiaries both domestic and foreign.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS:  Job functions include, but are not limited to the following;

Account Payable and Accounts Receivable Function

  • Oversee the entire Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable (cash application) function.
  • Ensure optimal coordination between A/P, Supply Chain, facility purchasing and treasury functions.
  • Ensure optimal coordination between A/R, Credit and BU Customer Service functions.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Concur T&E system & processing of T&E expense reports.
  • Responsible for American Express Corporate Card administration.
  • Responsible for ensuring all A/P and related cash flow targets are met monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Ensure proper and adequate controls are in place to ensure accuracy and compliance with all corporate policies.
  • Responsible for developing procedures for and supervising the preparation, documentation and disbursement of all payments and application of all cash receipts.
  • Responsible for implementation and execution of alternative payment/receipt tools (ghost card, p-card, Customer Supply Chain Finance, Vendor Supply Chain Finance, etc.).
  • Responsible for quarterly audit of p-card spend.
  • Responsible for 1099 preparation & distribution for all applicable US vendor spend.
  • Supervises and provides leadership, guidance and training to staff.
  • Advises on assignments and lead/manage projects.
  • Develop and/or review policies, procedures and systems and recommend/implement improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure the department provides accurate, timely and useful business analysis, reports and research for better decision making.
  • Advise senior management on latest /P& A/R trends and recommend process improvements.

Payroll Function

  • Oversees a payroll function that is responsible for US based “gross to net” payroll processes for both union/non-union hourly, and exempt and non-exempt salaried payrolls.
  • Responsible for implementing the corporate payroll strategy, planning and communications of the payroll function and related services.
  • Ensure proper and adequate controls are in place to ensure accuracy and compliance with all corporate policies.
  • Responsible for supervising the preparation, documentation and disbursement of all payroll checks/ACHs and payroll taxes for multiple entities.
  • Supervises and provides leadership, guidance and training to staff.
  • Advises on assignments and lead/manage projects.
  • Develop and/or review policies, procedures and systems and recommend/implement improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure all payroll taxes are paid accurately and on-time and related paperwork is processed timely and accurately.
  • Ensure the department provides a high standard of customer service to internal clients including business analyses, reports and research.
  • Advise senior management on latest payroll trends and recommend payroll process improvements.

Other

  • Support analysis, onboarding & integration of acquired businesses including diligence, designing & implementing interim solutions and permanent practices. Activity applies to US Payroll, AP, and AR as required.
  • Support activities related to dispositions of plants and/or business units. Activity applies to Payroll, AP, and AR as required and may involve activities related to Transition Services Agreements.
  • Responsible for escheatment resolution by performing necessary research & due diligence. Also responsible for preparing & distributing regulatory filings in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Support/lead special projects as assigned by Treasurer.

 


Required Skills

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • 12-15 years of progressive experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and financial processes, preferably in a shared service center environment.
  • Prior supervisory or management roles, leading nonexempt employee teams
  • Working knowledge and experience in automated payroll, accounts payable, & accounts receivable systems.
  • Successfully partnered with IT function to implement and manage projects and processes, preferred

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics or another related field.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Work well under pressure, handle numerous projects at once, and meet crucial internal and external reporting deadlines.
  • Work involves confidential and sensitive information. Discretion is essential.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, detail orientation and interpersonal skills and be able to multi-task on a consistent basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions while working under pressure. Must be self-directed, takes initiative
