MISSION / SUMMARY: Position is key to provide hands-on support for environmental research and product testing by maintaining lab integrity, ensuring accurate data collection, and executing minor project tasks.
JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Perform required equipment calibrations per standard work requirements for each piece of equipment documenting results and troubleshooting issues.
- Conduct required sampling, setup, and analysis of COD, TSS, TS, PH, and BOD tests; perform microbiological and biomonitoring procedures per standard work.
- Monitor, record, and troubleshoot equipment metrics: temperatures, weight balances, integrators, DO levels, and blower amperage at multiple stations per standard work requirements.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment for optimum functionality and accuracy.
- Manage Clarifier operations: feed cultures, check nutrient levels, measurement of flow, and record keeping per standard work.
- Transport water samples to ULM (Tue-Fri); prepare nutrient solutions and test materials per standard work.
- Complete extra sampling events (e.g., ASB and Pond surveys) as required.
- Compile and interpret results, then report findings to relevant coworkers.
- Record and organize all testing data, maintaining documentation accuracy.
- Follow all Mill health and safety protocols.
- Assistance developing and implementing new laboratory procedures when required.
- Manage laboratory supplies, updating inventory and ensuring proper storage of chemicals and materials.
- Maintain lab and vehicle cleanliness; perform routine operational inspections
- Ability to work weekends and holidays when required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 3 years or more experience in paper manufacturing and/or lab technician.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- Qualification in test procedures for area (BOD, COD, TSS) and calibration of appropriate equipment.
- Employee must be able to read safety procedures, operating procedures, test procedures, MSDS's, etc. and understand their meaning and instruction.
- Employee must have a thorough working knowledge of the English language to include reading, writing and speaking.
- Computer/math skills - basic computer skills for data entry (including spreadsheet skills). Employee must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide and work with fractions and decimals.
Pay Range: $55,440.00 - $69,300.00
