MISSION / SUMMARY:
Provide direct on shift supervision for Power and Recovery Department. Power & recovery operation supports two paper machines, fiber process with includes 3 continuous digesters (3-Kamyr) and an OCC plant (recycle fiber from our internal converting plants and DLK from the open market)
JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.
- Directly supervises approximately 20 hourly employees in the operation of power and steam generation and distribution systems, and chemical recovery operations in a large pulp and paper mill. Assets include three power boilers at 1,100,000 lbs/hr. two are package with gas burners that operate at 600 psi. Also a high pressure boiler fired on gas and bark that operates at 1500 psi. 2 G.E. turbines that can maximize electrical generation at ~35MW and a Gas Turbine that generates ~32 MW . Two recovery boilers that burn a combined average of 4.0MMILBS/Day.
- Accountable for overall shift performance in accordance to established key performance indicators (KPI’s) to include: safety, environmental compliance, housekeeping, quality and efficiency. Takes necessary actions to ensure goals are achieved in a team environment by leading or promoting problem solving and development of countermeasures that will prevent future reoccurrence.
- Plan and control the generation and distribution of steam, generation and distribution of electrical power and chemical recovery operations against operating targets.
- This role actively leads 5S and lean manufacturing programs by ensuring goals are met within the department. The Supervisor, Power and Recovery ensures completion of all required paperwork, schedules, work orders, etc.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in a power and recovery operation.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent power and recovery experience will also be considered.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- SAP experience preferred.
- Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule including some weekends. 5-week rotation work schedule: 3 off, 4 (D) on; 7 off, 4 (N) on; 3 off, 3(D) on; 1 off, 3(N), then cycle starts over. This 5-week rotation provides two weekends off per month. Vacation time is limited to long days, so that the relief supervisor can cover the vacancy. Any additional vacation time is expected to be worked out among the supervisors.

- Communicate Mill Safety Topic
- Provide a Safety Moment at turn-over.
- Reporting of Incidents or near-misses to include:
- 5-Why analysis
- Corrective Actions, minimum of 3 identified.
- Review of LOTO/Confined Space/Hot Work/Line Break before allowing work on your tour
- Pro Card Utilization, review, and follow-up actions addressed.
Environmental Standards:
- Understanding of the “Hot Sheet” / compliance guidelines
- Prompt reporting of all issues, with details.
- Incident reports to be completed prior to leaving the facility.
Quality Standards:
- Center Line reviews (familiar with ParcView, Capstone programs)
- KPI’s understood and always pursued.
- Energy Target
- Liquor Target
- Water Quality
- Utilization of SOPs with all assets.
Performance Expectations:
- Vacation Policy adhered to.
- Vacancy Coverage adhered to.
- OBU (Out of Bargaining Unit) Utilization understood and adhered to.
- Understand Call Procedure for Safety, Environmental, or Production Events
- ADP Expectations (timecard management)
- SAP knowledge & abilities (Req entering, WN generation, GR)
- Workflows cleared within month of notification
- Accountability of team expectations (to be provided)
- Utilization of shift maintenance teams on work that can be performed on shift
- Outage Support (Two recovery outages per year, Cold Outage every 2-3 years)
- Downtime Reports (asset disruptions)
- Operator round checklist verification of items reported.
Pay Range: $94,875.00 - $126,500.00
