MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Payroll Intern position is designed to provide interns with practical professional work experience in the Payroll and Payroll Tax areas of the manufacturing industry.  The Graphic Packaging Payroll Coordinators are part of a corporate, centralized function that processes approximately 16,000 plus employee’s payroll covering 73 locations nationwide.

 

They understand and align business operations regarding Payroll as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Train on Payroll processing and day to day functions for the hourly payrolls
  • Partner with other coordinators to learn how to balance all payroll summary reports
  • Train with various payroll personnel to learn basic functions in SAP HCM
  • Work with the payroll tax coordinators on paying and remitting federal, state and local taxes.
  • Train with payroll tax on balancing wages and tax accounts
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Current student in good standing pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field.

 

SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform daily work tasks in a diverse, changing, and growing business environment
  • Proactive and creative work approach
  • Self-motivated and directed; ability to work autonomously and in team environment with minimal supervision
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Good analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
