Title:  Payroll Tax Administrator

Position Scope:

Responsible for payroll tax remittances and wage and tax reporting for federal, state, city and local taxing jurisdictions 

 

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Balancing wages, taxes and pretax deductions for hourly payroll on a weekly basis for the month, quarter and year
  • Balancing wages, taxes and pretax deduction for hourly and salaried payroll on a combined quarterly and annual basis
  • Preparing and remitting federal, state, city and local tax deposits on a semi-monthly, monthly or quarterly basis
  • Preparing and filing monthly and quarterly tax reports at the state, city and local levels
  • Preparing and filing quarterly withholding and unemployment reports at federal and state levels
  • Preparing and filing annual federal, state, city and local tax reports along with W2 file uploads
  • Perform verification checks to ensure the annual preparation and filing of W2’s is complete, accurate and filed on time
  • Provide updated state unemployment rates to tax partner Equifax and the Information Technology team
  • Provide weekly Human Resources Information System corrections to SAP taxing jurisdiction screens for personnel
  • Research tax notices received and provide recommended resolution
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities within the Payroll Department

 SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

Required Experience

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years of experience in filing multi-jurisdictional taxes at the local, state and federal levels
  • High level understanding of payroll taxes
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Basic Accounting experience is a plus
  • Experience working in a diverse and dynamic business environment

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School graduate
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent years of experience
