Title:  Reliability Analyst II

MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Reliability Analyst identifies work for maintenance technicians and provides reliability engineering for assigned work area. Field supervision, inspection of field work, project management and office administrative duties will be required in support of the functional area of assignment.  Incumbents are expected to exercise initiative and independence in implementing departmental policies, developing effective work processes and solving operational problems.

 

 

 

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following

  • Ensures that proper safety practices are followed.
  • Responds to emergencies as requested; coordinates activities with others; directs the work and utilization of resources to effect repair.
  • Lead RCFA process to identify root cause and determine corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Analyze downtime to identify “bad actors” and assist in prioritizing reliability improvement efforts.
  • Troubleshoot chronic issues and develop action plans to minimize impact on equipment availability.
  • Focus on developing/implementing/sustaining reliability best practices to reduce unscheduled maintenance downtime and costs.
  • Assist in developing key reliability metrics to help measure success.
  • Lead efforts to improve and sustain overall equipment preventive and predictive reliability strategies.
  • Review/critique outage execution to identify obstacles and identify improvements.
  • Assist with major equipment work scopes for bidding purposes and continue to refine/detail the scope of work.
  • Manage contractors during outages for safety, execution and cost control.
  • Make rounds through the assigned area to look for early signs of problems and address.
  • Develops preventive maintenance plans for assigned work area.
  • Develops, interprets and implements policies and procedures; and ensures that staff is trained in complex maintenance activities and are following standard operating procedures.
  • Monitors and participates in operations in assigned areas including inspecting projects, developing and implementing modifications and improvements.
  • Answers questions and provides information related to projects including resolving problems and providing technical expertise in area of assignment.
  • Maintains effective working relationships and works in cooperation with the management team to effectively meet departmental objectives.
  • Manages mill integrity programs including roofs and tanks.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in reliability engineering and/or maintenance, root cause and failure analysis.
  • 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience preferred. Will consider a degreed mechanical or similar engineer with 1-2 years demonstrated RCM, planning and scheduling best practices experience.
  • Familiarity with heavy manufacturing facilities is preferred.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, but other engineering degree will be considered. Equivalent work experience will be considered, preferably pulp & paper related.

SKILLS:

  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Excel and Project.
  • Experience with a CMMS system preferably SAP; utilize SAP for the creation of task lists to assist in job planning.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
