The Finishing Manager, in conjunction with the team, is responsible for safety, quality, productivity, equipment condition, and housekeeping, reporting directly to the Operations Manager. This role is company liaison to customers, employees and Sales, supervises specific production departments and or shifts, enforcing all Plant rules and regulations as necessary to keep the goals and results consistent with company direction, and works with the Continuous Improvement, Quality and Maintenance Teams to develop, create and implement: SOP’s, CI Projects and Preventive Maintenance Initiatives. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Work within the AVP/Epicor computer system if required
  • Attend the plant scheduling meetings if required
  • Must have the ability to do all necessary paperwork
  • Measure and track productivity/quality performance in order to maintain and improve performance in their perspective department where possible.
  • Hire new departmental employees and fire employees when justified
  • Take disciplinary action when issues of safety, quality, production, attendance or other behavioral standards are not met.
  • Must understand the facilities production communication and of transfer of job information.
  • Supervisors must understand all processes involved in offset lithography, die cutting, folding/gluing, customer service, purchasing
  • Apply SQF and QMS principles and techniques effectively.
  • Provide the training, resources, and safety to enable employees to succeed
  • Delegate responsibilities throughout their department
  • To confidently make production/quality decisions based on the information provided
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Plant Manager.

 REQUIRED EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma (GED)
  • Equipment-direct experience in the folding carton industry.
  • Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, typically (7:30 am - 4:30 pm), however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends, and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional minimal overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8 hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 Fair working conditions exist due to the manufacturing processes, but only one or two continuously present – dirt, lint, odors, heat.
