  • Develop, implement and maintain Environmental Health and Safety (HSE) programs to assure compliance with applicable federal, state and local safety & health standards and in support of Graphic Packaging International’s (GPI) Health and Safety guidelines and minimum Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Develop, implement and maintain environmental programs to assure compliance with applicable federal, state and local standards and in support of Graphic Packaging International’s (GPI) environmental guidelines including but not limited to air permitting, hazardous and non-hazardous wastes collection and disposal, and storm water management.
  • Develop, implement and maintain employee HSE training in support of the written safety programs and track employee safety training activities.
  • Provide HSE expertise and leadership in establishing a safe and productive worksite.
  • Perform periodic safety and environmental audits; develop recommendations for ongoing HSE improvement.
  • Develop, track, analyze and communicate plant safety statistics.
  • Develop, track, analyze and communicate plant environmental reporting and statistics.
  • Provide safety & health training as required to all levels within the plant.
  • Coordinate GPI involvement with OSHA and other regulatory inspections.
  • Consult with and provide guidance to the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) on HSE issues.
  • Organize workload so that applicable regulatory deadlines are met.
  • Conduct environmental training as required for the plant site.
  • Consult with and provide guidance to the Plant Manager on environmental issues.
  • Continue to increase professional environmental knowledge through reading, training, conference attendance, etc. Develop a network of key HSE contacts in regulatory agencies, trade organizations and consulting firms.
  • Work with the SLT to develop the Annual Safety Plan 
  • Maintain Annual Safety Plan documentation.
  • Lead the plant-wide Safety Committee.
  • QUALITY: Lead continuous improvement (CI) efforts as it pertains to quality concerns.
  • QUALITY: Document Customer Complaint and Credit database and publish monthly.
  • QUALITY: Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action measures for Quality failures.
  • QUALITY: Develop, document and train on Quality procedures.
  • QUALITY: Maintain Quality System documentation to include:  Forms, Procedures and Specifications
  • QUALITY: Drive Quality improvement through communications and promotion
  • QUALITY: Formally respond to customer requests for information (as it pertains to Quality and Regulatory issues)

Required Skills

  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office and database programs.
  • Self-starter, good people skills, strong personal leadership, organizational skills, oral and written communication skills.
  • Good understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations

Required Experience

  • Experience in Health, Safety or Environmental role, preferably in manufacturing
  • Experience in Quality Systems, a plus
